The natural disasters that have plagued America in the recent weeks seem almost unbearable. Imagine having to deal with a severe eye infection in the midst of these troubles.
The Sioux City Journal’s website is reporting an increase in eye infections related to the flooding in the midwest: “According to the American Optometric Association, doctors of optometry have seen an increase in flood-related eye infections, particularly in areas throughout Iowa, and believe that these cases will continue to rise in the coming weeks.” The article states that flooding increases waterborne pathogens that can cause serious eye infections. Contact lens wearers are particularly at risk.
While diligent care of the eyes and contact lenses seems like common sense, it might be easily set aside in difficult times. Remember: always use the sterile contact lens solution prescribed by your eye doctor, and never use tap water on your contacts. Hand washing before handling your lenses is a must.

iZon High Definition Lens
It’s extraordinary to think that vision correction technology relies on the same measurements and technology used generations ago. That’s all about to change.
Introducing iZon® High Resolution Eyeglass Lenses – a quantum leap forward in vision correction. Using technology unlike anything else in optometry, iZon Lenses offer a whole new standard for perfect vision.
They not only address your acuity of vision (which line you can read on the eye chart at 20 feet), they also improve the quality of your vision. You’ll see with far more sharpness, contrast and clarity than ever before possible. Current iZon wearers describe it as High-Definition vision.
The iZon lens is the only lens in the world customized to the unique shape of your eye, offering true High Definition vision.
The HOYA Nulux ep
Lens design should begin with the human eye as the starting place for all lens evaluation and development. Previously, traditional designs were based on optical theory, with little attention paid to the varying elements related to actual vision. Now, HOYA’s Nulux ep design takes into account functions such as eyeball rotation to arrive at the overall lens design.
The result: HOYA’s Nulux ep offers benefits for every prescription through HOYA Free-Form Design Technology. Each prescription is custom-surfaced using this technology, allowing each lens to be perfectly matched to individual prescriptions providing clear, natural vision no matter where you look.
HOYA's Nulux ep is one of the few custom lenses to offer clear, crisp vision through the entire lens, even to the edges.
